Making A Handcrafted Boot

Handmade In Over 200 Steps

It takes an entire team of artisans to make a single boot by hand. See a handful of the steps required to build a Tecovas boot, in action below.

The Bootmaking Process

The Shaft

Before the front and back quarters are hand-sewn together to make the shaft, strings are delicately hand-stitched into the shaft leather to form cording patterns.

The Vamp And Counter

The leather heel counter, which will mold to the heel to hold the foot in place, is hand-sewn to the vamp, a supple piece of leather that comprises the rest of the foot.

Malleable wooden pegs are driven into the middle of the sole by hand and hammer, attaching the insole and outsole together.

To get tonal highs and lows, our boots are painted, burnished, polished and cleaned by hand before being carefully inspected and approved for boxing.
