Our original Chelsea boot is an urban boot on an unapologetically western platform. Its lower profile makes it a modern choice for slimmer jeans and slacks, and its elastic gores provide easy-on and easy-off access. The Chance is available in both Chestnut Calfskin and water-resistant Rust Roughout Suede.
Two Great Choices
The Chance is available in two materials: Chestnut Calfskin, or our new Rust Roughout Suede, a 100% water-resistant leather. The good news is, you can't go wrong with either. The boot is lined with soft, supple bovine for comfort and features an elastic gore on each side. Western roots like a leather sole, Goodyear welt construction, lemonwood pegs, and a stacked leather heel with rubber end cap complete The Chance.

The Western Chelsea
Standing on our 1 ¼” hybrid western heel, The Chance brings a western approach to a traditional Chelsea boot shape. It has a 6” heel-to-ankle height, reinforced counter, and heel pull strap.

Modern Boot. Western Roots.
The Chance is an urban boot that brings a whole new level of versatility to the Tecovas lineup. Its low profile makes it a perfect choice for slimmer jeans and slacks. The Chance can hold its own under a suit, or pair it with slim jeans and a pearl snap, t-shirt, or henley for a more casual look.

Making The Chance
The western boot is an icon. We favor simple, timeless designs that never go out of style. Our boots are as in style today as they were 50 years ago, and will be 50 years from now. As we see it, tradition and confidence are always in, and that's what our designs stand for.
Any boot worth its own heel is made in León. From fine leathers and hand-laid cording to the individual placing of lemonwood pegs, it takes a team of artisans over 200 steps to make a single boot by hand. That’s quality you can truly feel.

We’ll always shoot you straight.

Frequently Asked Questions
Why a Chelsea boot?
The Chelsea boot has a storied history. Born out of riding boots in Great Britain, it became a cultural staple in the British music scene in the 1960s. The boot’s lowered profile and gores (the elastic paneling on each ankle) give it a level of breathability that had not been seen before when it first arrived decades ago. The Chance taps into these traditions while constructing the boot on a western platform (leather sole, stacked leather heel, ¾ Goodyear welt construction, lemonwood pegs). The result is a boot of timeless style and enduring comfort–all with a western touch.
What's different about the suede on this boot?
The Chance is made with a ‘Roughout’ suede. While the finish is still waterproof, you will find more variation in the suede length and burnish applied in finishing the boot. This provides a more textured and casual look. Rust is also a color featured only with The Chance.
How should a Chelsea boot fit?
Snug, not tight. Ideally, you should be able to slip your foot in and out of the boot with the help of the heel pull strap. Your toes should be comfortable and not cramped, but with the proper amount of heel lift in the back of the boot. The Chance stands on the same heel and sole as our zip boots, so fit should be similar.
What is a "gore”?
The elastic panels you see on both sides of each ankle on The Chance are called “gores.” They are a standard component of the classic Chelsea boot shape. Gores allow for fantastic stretch without compromising durability. Ironically, each gore provides easy-on, easy-off function while maintaining The Chance’s clean, uniform aesthetic.
